Grenache noir, Rolle

Dress

A magnificent deep pink.

Nose

An intense nose of crunchy stone fruits (apricot, vine peach) underlined by wild mint and spices.

Mouth

An active, saline and savoury palate with a fresh, slightly minty finish. A cheeky wine with perfect balance.

Wine and food pairing

Great with fusion cuisine. It serves well with chicken skewers marinated in paprika or a Moroccan tagine.

Custody advice

Ideal tasting temperature at 10°C. Tip: Put your rosé in an ice bucket with water and ice cubes rather than in the fridge.

Winemaking

The UP Origin cuvée has its origins in the majestic terroir that gave life to Ultimate Provence. On the outskirts of the 'Massif des Maures', the vineyard is planted on crystalline soils, where particular schists grow. The Rolle and Syrah grape varieties are honoured here, surrounded by the property's youngest Cinsault and Grenache noir varietals. Always picked by moonlight, the grapes are immediately pressed in the cellar, before the juices are separated. The saline minerality is extracted rather well without long maceration. A brief stabling gives way to a filtration of the lees which is reintegrated in fermentation at around 17-18°C. Regular stirring on fine lees for two months sharpens the palate, before the winter dormancy.

Mr. Chapoutier

It all started in 1808 with the creation of Maison Calvet et Compagnie, located rue de l'Hermitage in Tain. In 1897, Marius Chapoutier joined forces with Rodolphe Delépine to found the Delépine et Chapoutier company. The wines are exported to Holland, Switzerland and Germany. Then in 1929, at the foot of the Hermitage hill, Marius created the new M. CHAPOUTIER winery. In 1937, Marius' son Marc took over the business. Today, with Mathilde and Maxime, a new generation joins Corinne and Michel Chapoutier to perpetuate the tradition of a family House.
